Google Photos will soon stop offering free Unlimited storage options to its users
Starting June 1, if your 15GB Google storage space is full and you have been uploading photos under the high-quality option, then you will have to buy a Google One subscription to store more photos or videos.
Right now Google offers unlimited high quality storage for free. The biggest change in Google Photos storage policy after June 1 is that photos and videos backed up in high quality or express quality after this date will be counted in 15GB of storage that users get with their Google account, which also includes Gmail and Google Drive.
All existing high-quality content will remain exempt from the storage quota.
Note:- If you have Google Pixel 5 or earlier versions, then this new storage policy won’t affect you. Pixel phone users will continue to receive unlimited free storage options.
Things you can do to save images without paying
Google has also added a new tool to Photos that lets you manage your storage. You can use this to check how much storage has been used, and also how you can clear photos to clear space.
It will categorise photos that are blurry, screenshots, large, and from other apps. Google is also renaming the “High quality storage tier’ to ‘Storage saver’.
